The Red Sox beat the Angels, 12-6, Tuesday at Gillen Field to claim the Northgate Little League Minors Division championship.

The Red Sox exploded for five runs in the first and rode the arm of Estevan Salazar (5 strikeouts) to the victory.

Tim Couch led off the first inning rally with a run scored and Brandon Portillo capped it with one of his own.

The Red Sox added two in the second, two in the third and three in the fifth.

The Angels scored two in the second, one in the fourth and three in the sixth.

The Angels’ last at-bat featured their best rally, but the lead was too big to handle.

Anthony Andrade has two stolen bases and three runs for the Red Sox, and Couch added a pair of walks and two more stolen bases.

Cameron Chapman swiped a bag, as did Salazar (two runs).
For the Angels, Bryan Hulzar scored a pair of runs and Osh Bohn added one more.

Dylan Tilden scored twice, and Trevor Brum added one more.

The Red Sox now move on to the District 67 Tournament of Champions.

Up first will be a meeting with Weston Ranch June 18 at Jefferson School in Tracy.
