The body of a man, whose identity is not known at this time, was pulled Monday from an irrigation canal near the intersection of East Highway 120 and South Austin Road in Manteca.

San Joaquin County Sheriff’s deputies responded about 9 a.m. to the report about a man’s body being found by a farmer in the irrigation canal.

Deputies are in the process of finding the identity of the man.

The cause of death is unknown at this time pending the results of an autopsy and toxicology tests. There are no obvious signs of trauma and the body appeared to have been in the water for several days, according to a media release from Deputy Les Garcia, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department.
