ATHLETICS HANG ON

A's shortstop Kevin Peck hauls in a highlight-reel catch of a blooper in front of left fielder James Robello.

POSTED June 11, 2009 1:54 a.m.

Highlighted by Brandon Elliott’s inside-the-park home run, a spectacular diving catch from Kevin Peck and Danny Gouveia’s complete game, the first-place Athletics moved to 10-2 on the season with a 6-5 win over the Twins Thursday at Sierra High. The Manteca Babe Ruth 14-15-year-old division resumes play Saturday at Manteca High when the A’s meet the third-place Giants. The top three teams, the A’s, Dodgers and Giants, are currently separated by just a game and a half.
