The Ripon Senior Babe Ruth squad swept visiting Lodi with 10-6 and 11-0 victories in a doubleheader at Mistlin Park Thursday to improve to 5-2.

In Game 1, Elijah English and Makana Ward each went 2 for 2 and scored two runs. Taylor McLaughlin added two RBIs. Winning pitcher Zac Carrillo struck out eight, and Josh English threw the final 1 2/3 innings for the save.

Mike Leland fanned nine batters and scattered five hits in the shutout.

John Olague finished 3 for 3 with a double and two runs. Zach Gase was 2 for 3 with two runs and two RBIs, and Cory Van Warmerdam drove in three runs.

Ripon plays another doubleheader today at Sierra High. First is a showdown with the Modesto A’s at 10 a.m., then a split squad game at 1 p.m.
