The Ripon Senior Babe Ruth team thumped the Modesto A’s 10-0 in Game 1 of a doubleheader at Sierra High Saturday, getting a commanding pitching effort from Josh English.

The sweep was later completed with a 12-9 victory thanks to the offense.

In Game 2, Ripon climbed back from an early 9-1 deficit with a seven-run fourth-inning rally. Cory Van Warmerdam’s two-run single and Gerald Parente’s two-run double were key to the comeback.

Zach Gase (two runs, triple) and Kyle Hvizda were 2 for 4, and Alex Garlets finished 2 for 3. Hvizda was also the winning pitcher, as he threw three shutout innings and allowed just two hits.

English scattered five hits and struck out five in the shutout win. Nolan Kelley drove in three runs in h is 2-for-2 effort. Elijah English and Makana Ward each contributed a triple.
