Man, 24, gunned down while sitting in Weston Ranch park

WESTON RANCH — A 24-year-old man died after being shot in the face mid-afternoon Tuesday while sitting in a park at Weston Ranch to become Stockton’s 29th murder victim so far in 2012.

Stockton Police said the man was shot at point-blank range in a park at Woodchase Lane and Henry Long Boulevard as he sat with his girlfriend.

He was sitting on a table at about 3 p.m. when someone tapped him on the shoulder. As he turned around he was shot. Police said the shooter then fled across the park.
