Ripon Babe Ruth posts two straight 12-0 victories

The Ripon Senior Babe Ruth squad is continuing its impressive season, posting another lopsided victory 12-0 over the Modesto A’s Wednesday.

Offensively, Ripon has gotten production from up and down the lineup, with four hitters finishing with multi-hit games. Both Zach Gase and Gerald Parente were 2 for 2 to pace the club’s 10th victory.

Parente notched a double, while Gase came around to score four times in the win.

Elijah English and John Olague were 2 for 3 with Olague driving in four runs. English also collected four RBI smashing two triples.

Olague teamed up with Mike Leland for the complete game shutout, holding Modesto to just three hits and striking out eight in the win.

Ripon’s winning ways continued with a 12-0 win over Modesto Christian.

Cory Van Warmerdam and Kytle Hvizda joined forces for a five-inning no-hitter, combining for 10 strikeouts in the shutout win. Van Warmerdam got the start in the win, tossing the first four innings, striking out eight and holding Modesto Christian hitless. Hvizda would come in for the final inning and preserve the no-hitter.

English had the hot bat in the second victory as well, going 2 for 3 with a double and a triple. Van Warmerdam helped his cause, collecting a hit in one at bat and driving in a pair.

Ripon (10-2) will be back on the diamond Saturday when the face the Modesto Twins Saturday at 10 a.m. The Twins are currently sitting in first place in the senior Babe Ruth division.
