WESTON RANCH – The District 67 Junior Division Tournament of Champions kicked off Saturday at Paul Weston Park with a quadruple header.

Spreckels Park Little League picked up a pair of wins, as the Titans upended the Northgate Pirates 9-2, and the Bulldogs took down the Mountain House Red Sox, 8-3.

The Weston Ranch Ports represented the home field in impressive fashion, meanwhile, drubbing the Salida Giants, 32-2.

The Titans now move on to a matchup with Patterson this afternoon at 3 p.m., while the Bulldogs will face the Weston Ranch Defenders at noon.

The Ports will face their second Salida foe in as many days when they square off with the Rockies at 6 p.m.

The Pirates will now wait until Tuesday at 4 p.m. when they will meet either the Defenders or Bulldogs.

The Titans’ Jayson Manuta and the Pirates’ Zac Carrillo went toe-to-toe in the first day of the game, and the two hurlers didn’t disappoint.

Manuta tossed six innings of one-hit ball, striking out seven as the Titans built a 3-1 lead through five.

Carrillo lasted five innings, allowing three runs and mowing down six.

The Titans broke it open in the sixth when they batted around and plated six runs on five knocks.

Marc Wilson led the way, finishing 4 for 4 with a pair or RBIs, while Gerald Parente and Manuta rapped two hits apiece.

Parente drilled an RBI double in the sixth, while Makana Ward and Buddy Reeder (1 for 1, 2 RBIs) also collected doubles.

Nick Van Warmerdam capped the sixth with a two-run single to right.

The Pirates had just two hits, one each from Steve McKnight and Jay Carden.

Alex Jorgensen allowed one run on one hit, striking out one in the seventh.

The Titans’ leather was true from start to finish, as Spreckels Park committed just one error.

The Titans finished with 12 hits.

Bulldogs’ starter Frankie Chavez brought his ‘A’ game against Mountain House, as the hard-throwing southpaw took a perfect game into the fifth inning.

Brennan Koeller highlighted a four-run sixth with a monster double off the wall in left, as the Bulldogs put the contest out of reach late.

Red Sox starter Zach Johnson tossed the first five and was impressive.

Ingel Salgorino closed it out for Mountain House.

The Lathrop Ports and Tracy American Angels closed out Saturday’s action at Paul Weston Park.

The winner will meet Tracy National today at 9 a.m.

The District 67 Junior Division Tournament of Champions wraps next Sunday at 3 p.m., or, if the loser’s bracket champion knocks off the winner’s bracket champion in Game 1 of the championship series, June 22 at 6 p.m.
