San Francisco Giants pitcher Matt Cain has company.

Well, sort of.

Gerson Gomez of Manteca Little League’s major-division Giants threw a four-inning perfect game in their 10-0 victory over Tracy American Saturday. Cain recorded the big-league Giants’ first perfect game last Wednesday against the Houston Astros.

The opening-round win advanced the Giants to Monday’s winner’s-bracket contest with Weston Ranch in the District 67 Tournament of Champions, which takes place at Mossdale Landing Community Park in Lathrop.

Gomez was both dominant and efficient, striking out nine while putting just three balls in play with 52 pitches. Logan Quan helped preserve the perfecto with a great catch in the outfield.

The pitcher was provided with more than enough offensive support. Manteca collected 14 hits, including a two-run homer by Ferrin Manuleleua. Jacob Moon (RBI) and Kyle Rachel (two doubles, two RBIs) were each 3 for 3, Quan added two RBIs in a 2-for-3 effort, and Andrew Brunn was 1 for 2 with an RBI.

The winner of Monday’s contest takes on Tracy National tonight at 5:30 p.m.
