A four-man team representing Manteca Park Golf Course placed second in the Northern California Golf Association Central Valley Zone Championship at Polly Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach.

Matt Miranda, Dallas Mix, Danny Perez and Carl Winter combined for a stellar comeback run on the second day of the tournament, June 12, carding a net score of 19-under par 125. They ended the opening round in sixth place with an 18-under 124 at Quail Lodge Golf Course in Carmel.

The two best net scores per hole counted against every team’s score. Miranda was the club’s top two-day individual performer, finishing 71-70—141.

Their two-day total was one stroke better than Del Rio Golf & Country Club’s. The top two teams qualify for the NCGA Zone Championship Aug. 27-28 at Poppy Hills Golf Course and Spyglass Hill Golf Course.

The quartet out of Swenson Park Golf Course in Stockton topped the 24-team field with a 247. Derrick Ferreira, Dave Kessler, Ron McGee and Ignacio Moreno of Ripon’s Jack Tone Golf Course placed sixth (119-137—256) and were collectively ranked No. 1 going into the final day.
