The Manteca High summer-league baseball team earned a big win Thursday, erasing a seventh-inning deficit for a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over the St. Mary’s Rams in the Lee Hampson Tournament.

“It was a great team effort; a great team win,” Manteca head coach Gene Ballardo said. “The kids are enjoying themselves and they are playing well.”

Nathan Chivello collected a big hit with a two-RBI double, but Dominic Pisano provided the difference, smashing a line-drive base hit down the first base line for the two-RBI game-winning-hit.

Manteca will be back on the diamond at 3 p.m. when they take on the Downey Knights at Downey High. A win today would move the Buffaloes and three other pool winners into the knockout round, which takes place Sunday.

Ripon got a quality outing from pitcher Jacob Guinn and cruised to an 11-5 victory over the Modesto A’s Tuesday.

Alex Garlets came on in relief, tossing three scoreless innings and picking up the save.

Offensively, Ripon got a 3-for-3 contest from Makana Ward and 2 for 4 games from Tyler Scharnow and Jason Angelo. Ward also drove in a game-high three runs to pace the club. Teammate Josh English was 1 for 2 and drove in a pair. English also came around to score twice.

Ripon improved to 14-4 on the season.
