Manteca man arrested on rape, kidnapping & terrorist threat charges

Kidnapping, rape by force, and terrorist threats were felony charges levied against a 39-year-old Manteca man Thursday morning in Manteca.

Manteca Police patrolman Aaron Montoya also charged Robert Flores with two misdemeanors for allegedly dissuading a witness and annoying/molesting a person under 18 years old, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s website.

Flores was booked into San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp at 10:15 a.m. with bail set at $720,000, according to the Sheriff’s Department.  He is to appear in the Manteca Branch of the San Joaquin County Superior Court on Monday, June 25. Further information was not readily available at press time from the Manteca Police Department.

The Sheriff’s Department website also listed the arrest of Alejandro Flores, 19, who was charged with the felony possession of a controlled substance along with a misdemeanor violation of possession of drug paraphernalia, and for driving without a license.

Flores is being held without bail in the county jail on a Border Patrol hold, according to the Sheriff’s Department. 

James Edward Paz, Jr., 19, was charged with a felony for attempting to escape from Manteca officer Paul Carmona when he was trying to arrest him on a $50,000 warrant.  His bail in county jail has been set at $50,000 with no court date set.

Ripon officer Josh Sweeten booked Justin Michael Nelson, 24, into county jail Thursday evening on two counts of indecent exposure and for being under the influence, according to the Sheriff’s website.  He is being held without bail, and his court appearance has been set for Tuesday, June 26, at 8:30 a.m. in the Manteca Branch of the San Joaquin County Superior Court. 

There were a total of 69 bookings Thursday at the county jail for the 24-hour period.  The total jail capacity is 1,411 with the jail count amounting to 1,263 inmates on Thursday.
