The Friends of the Manteca Parks & Recreation Foundation and the Manteca Parks & Recreation Department are co-sponsoring a charity golf event on July 24.

The proceeds from the seventh annual Swing for Youth Golf Tournament will go toward the youth scholarship funds, assisting those who are age 5 to 18 looking to participate in the various city-sponsored recreational activities and classes.

These scholarships can be used toward swim lessons, all youth sports, toddler art and exploration, toddler creative play, karate, judo, afterschool child care, dance, gymnastics and cheerleading, to name a few.

The best-ball scramble event will take place at the Manteca Park Golf Course, kicking off with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start (registration begins at 6:30).

Entry fee is $75 per person and includes green fees, cart, continental breakfast, course beverage, hat, goodie bags, and a post-tournament lunch at the golf course.

Those signing up can do so as an individual or foursome.
Some of the prizes include $500 for the designated hole-in-one green sponsored by Uncle Frank’s Grill along with closest to the hole and longest drive.

Co-sponsors for this event also include Nolte & Associates; PG&E; Manteca Police Employees Association; Piper Jaffray & Co.; Richards, Watson & Gershon; and Manteca Firefighters Union.

For more information, call John Boore at (209) 825-2575 or log on to www.ci.manteca.ca.us/parks to receive a download of the registration form.
