SACRAMENTO — The California State Fair is hosting the Hooters World Wing-Eating Championship on Saturday, July 14, at 6 p.m. on the Promenade Stage.
For 10 minutes, contestants will scarf down Hooters wings in a finger-lickin’ free-for-all. The wings are all-you-can-eat, and the contestant that eats the most in 10 minutes is declared the winner.
Some of the world’s hungriest Major League Eaters will compete for a $1,000 cash prize. The winner will also be offered a trip to Clearwater, Fla., to compete in the Hooters World Wing-Eating Championship Finals on July 26. The winner of the finals will be awarded $15,000.

The California State Fair opens Thursday and runs through July 19 at Cal Expo. General admission is $12 while senior admission 62 and older as well as youth admission ages 5 to 12 is $8. Children younger than 5 are free. Parking is $10 per vehicle.
• DIRECTIONS: Take Highway 99 north to Sacramento and keep going north where it will turn into Business 80. After crossing the American River, take the Cal Expo exit.
