New riders  clinic Sunday plus two days of BMX racing

A beginning riders’ clinic is taking place Sunday at the Spreckels Park BMX course.

Registration for the clinic starts at 8:30 a.m. with the clinic starting at 9 a.m. The clinic will focus on basic BMX racing skills, including gate starts, jumps and turns. Riders must wear long sleeve shirts, pants and helmets. Chain guards and pegs must be removed from bikes. BMX races this weekend

Spreckels Park BMX will be hosting two races Saturday and Sunday. Signup and practice times are from 11 a..m. to 1 p.m. both days with races starting shortly thereafter. BMX races are divided by age groups, there are divisions for new riders (novice), more advanced riders (intermediate), as well as experts and professionals racing with practice every weekend at the track.

ABA BMX membership information is available on race day. The track is located at Spreckels Avenue and Moffat Boulevard. It is free admission for spectators and $10 entry fee for racing. You must have helmet, long sleeves and pants, and BMX or mountain style bicycle. Some loaner equipment will be available at the track. The BMX hotline for more information is 209-603-1670.

Manteca’s Spreckels Park BMX track played host to an ABA / USA BMX District Points race on Sunday, July 21. Points earned at every BMX race held in the area go towards year end awards, there are also daily awards handed out to the top 3 finishers in every division.
