MURPHYS - The Stockton Symphony will be joining young sensation Jackie Evancho during her concert with Tony Bennett at Ironstone Vineyards on Friday, Aug. 31, at 8 p.m.

The concert will take place at the Ironstone Amphitheatre located at 1894 Six Mile Road in Murphys, CA.  Tickets start at $45 and can be purchased at www.ironstonevineyards.com or at www.etix.com.

The Stockton Symphony has been performing since 1926 and is the third oldest, continuously performing orchestra in California, surpassed in longevity only by the San Francisco Symphony and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.  The Stockton Symphony is currently conducted by Maestro Peter Jaffe, who will soon begin his 18th season. Under his tenure, the orchestra has continued sustained growth in artistic excellence and gained national recognition through composer residencies, the release of a commercial recording, and world premieres.

Evancho has achieved big fame at a young age.  First gaining nationwide recognition at age 10 on America’s Got Talent, Evancho is the youngest Top 10 debut artist in U.S. history and the youngest solo artist to ever go platinum.  On June 26, Evancho performed in Russia before government leaders and an audience of more than 100,000 people at the opening ceremonies of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.  Last February, Evancho sang before President Obama and other leaders at the U.S. National Prayer Breakfast.

The Stockton Symphony and Jackie Evancho will share the evening with 17-time Grammy winner and legendary performer Tony Bennett, who will be performing his classic repertoire of the Great American Songbook.  Bennett, who celebrated his 85th birthday last year, garnered his first #1 CD with the release of Duets II.  He is a multiple Emmy Award winner and has been named an NEA (National Endowment for the Arts) Jazz Master, and was honored by the United Nations for his humanitarian efforts.

Other upcoming performers in the 2012 Ironstone Vineyards Concert Series include John Fogerty with special guest Arlo Guthrie and Family on Aug. 3, Heart with special guest Bachman & Turner on Aug. 11, and Jeff Foxworthy on Sept. 8.
