The Second Harvest Food Bank’s annual chili pot cook-off is Saturday at the MRPS Hall at 133 North Grant Street in Manteca.

What is billed as promisingly “delicious chili” will include a raffle and silent auction for the event with its proceeds going to feed the homeless and the less fortunate in San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties as well as the Mother Lode.

Cash prizes are on tap for the best chili from $75 to $300.  The People’s Choice award will bring with it $100 in cash for the all-round perfect recipe.  All ages are welcome to experience the family fun of the event.

Unlimited chili tasting and non-alcoholic beverages go with the ticket sales of $8 when pre-purchased and $10 at the door.  The doors will open at 5 p.m. this coming Saturday.

For tickets or for more information go to www.localfoodbank .org or call (209) 239-2091.  The chili event is being sponsored by Pacific Gas and Electric Co.  with that company matching whatever is raised at the event. Sponsorship opportunities are still available from $125 to $500 until Friday afternoon at the food bank office on Industrial Park Drive in Manteca’s Industrial Park.
