The midnight egging of houses and cars by a group of juveniles Monday morning reportedly turned into a chase,  a rear end collision and a roll over involving the suspect vehicle – a late model Kia utility vehicle.

San Joaquin County Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Les Garcia said that a rural southern Manteca resident gave chase of the four teenagers involved, believing his vehicle had been egged.  After a short pursuit the victim’s car struck the rear of the teen’s Kia that, according to witnesses, overturned and righted itself back onto its wheels in the 2300 block of South Oleander Avenue at Almondwood.  The chase vehicle ended up in a corn field at that location, a witness said.

Deputy Garcia said all the parties in both vehicles sustained minor injuries. Fire medics and an ambulance crew responded to the scene.  One teenager was transported to an area hospital for his injuries as was the motorist who chased the four juveniles.

The last of the emergency responders left the scene shortly after 4 a.m., a resident near the crash reported. Skid marks and oil deposits reportedly marked the intersection of the collision.

No arrests have been made and the case is being submitted to the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office for review.
