Jaguars dominate 49ers all-around in Cen-Cal opener

The Manteca Jaguars put together an impressive showing on all levels, getting a dominant performance from the varsity club in a 42-0 shutout of the Central Valley 49ers in Saturday’s Cen-Cal opener at Sierra High.

The Jaguars did not allow a score on the defensive side and had five different players find the end zone.

SeuSeu Alofaituli, Brenden Arreola, Marcos Castillo and Gerson Gomez all scored touchdowns for the Jaguars. Arreola broke out for the days longest scoring run with a 62-yard score.

Julian Serrano and James Smith connected on a 35 yard score to cap the scoring.

Defensively, Carlos Perez led the way with two interceptions.

Jaguars 26, 49ers 0

The Jaguars dominated every facet of the game in their shutout of the 49ers Saturday.

Jamarie Wayne had two touchdowns for the Jaguars, while both Zelmar Vedder and Josh Herbert would add one. Wayne rushed for over 140 yards to lead all rushers.

Defensively, Ryan Zimmerman turned in superb play from his safety spot, combining with the defense to hold the 49ers without a first down.

Rookie

The Manteca Jaguars rookie squad was led by Jamari Hodges’ 168 yards rushing and two touchdowns in their meeting with the 49ers.

Both Payton Graham and Zane Salgado combined for 50 yards as well.

Salgado also had contributions on the defensive end, recording seven tackles and a fumble recovery.
