Balanced effort keeps Manteca undefeated

The Manteca Cowboys continued a nice opening to the NorCal All-American Youth Football League season, taking care of the Central Valley Jets 48-0 Saturday during Week 2 action at East Union.

Carlos Maltez had 77 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns, while quarterback Angel Sena tossed for 100 yards and two scores, including a 46-yard touchdown strike to Julian Lopez. Deon Mackson hauled in the other score.

Domingo Vargas, Val Gomez and Frankie Porter also scored touchdowns.

The defense was as impressive, holding the Jets to a single first down.


Cowboys 28, Jets 0

Jovani Oliva opened the scoring with a 45-yard touchdown run and the Cowboys never looked back.

Oliva would go on to score three touchdowns on the day. David Kakala also got in the scoring with a 55-yard touchdown run.

The defense put together a shutout, being led with Nicco Cedolini’s 10 tackles.


Cowboys 20, Jets 6

The Cowboys had little difficulty beating the Jets, running away with the contest behind strong play from Alex Scoz.

Scoz led the way with 131 yards rushing on 10 carries, including a score. Virgil Rucker also chipped in with 41 yards rushing and a pair of scores.
