There will be no inter-district student transfers granted during the 2012-13 school year.

That’s according to the resolution unanimously approved by the Manteca Unified Board of Trustees Tuesday night. That action was the result of high enrollments at every grade level.

According to the resolution voted by the board, the district will be unable to grant any inter-district requests for transfers at any of the K-12 school sites because “student classroom space, both at the elementary level and at the high school level, are nearing or are at capacity at all grades in both enrollments, and the growth patterns within the district to show that student population will continue to grow in the coming years.”

The report also indicated that the district has experienced steady high enrollments in every grade level, i.e., kindergarten to 12hth grades, since 2001.

The resolution further directs Superintendent Jason Messer to monitor the district’s enrollment on an ongoing basis and to apprise the Board of Trustees “if and when inter-district transfers can again be accepted without negatively impacting the school sites” in the school district.

The board also decided Tuesday night to discuss and consider voting on a separate resolution dealing with the issue of inter-district agreements.
