After rolling through a its first few opponents with near-laughable ease, East Union stumbled upon a Sac-Joaquin Section champion on its home course. Lodi took full advantage, handling East Union easily 218-249 Wednesday at Woodbridge Golf and Country Club.

East Union had only one player finish the round in the 40s, giving the Lancers little chance against a talented Lodi program.

“We haven’t pushed ourselves enough,” East Union co-head coach Brian Goulart said. “We haven’t had any matches prior to this that has challenged us. I think that natural tendency is to think you’re better then you are. We went up against a section champion on a tough course and our weaknesses showed.

“We have to fix them quickly.”

A week full of challenges await the Lancers next week as they enter a tough period of Valley Oak League play. East Union will meet up with both Sonora and Sierra next week, placing the urgency on the club to turn things around.

Brooke Riley led the Lancers with a 41, just missing out a chance for medalist honors with a double-bogey on the final hole.

Kimmy Lamar shot a 51 as did teammate Brittany Ugalino. Breanna Perkins shot 1 52, while Jordan Vinson shot a 54.
