Two young Manteca entrepreneurs -  Andrew MacCready of Green Leaf Apparel  and James Lara of Subconic Entertainment are presenting “On The Rising,” a music, art, and fashion showcase that highlights the 209 area’s rising talents tonight at 7 p.m. at Fat Cat Music House located at 930 11th Street, Modesto.

“On The Rising” is an idea hatched by the two young men and has been a long time coming. It is bringing together local rap, reggae, fashion, live art, live tattooing, and an energy that is unique. The showcase has three acts from Manteca, (Roneen Brooso, Braata, & Prep) with the rest of the bill being filled by acts from Stockton, Modesto, Patterson, and Ceres.

Green Leaf Apparel and Subconic Entertainment are two companies that are devoted to promoting positivity and creating genuine events that artists and fans can continue to enjoy and experience.  Since the creation of the event the event itself has evolved into something more then both parties had initially intended, with many local businesses and more artists of different mediums wanting to be involved.

Back in 2005 The Manteca Bulletin ran an article headlined, “Local artist moving to next level.”  At that time a young man named ARAL (air-ul), age 19, was moving from Manteca to San Francisco to further pursue his music ambitions.   ARAL, birth name James Lara, had just released his first album, “ARAL Alliterations.  Since then he has co-founded Metaphisik Records and released his 2nd album titled “The Darker Side of Happiness” and self recorded his third album title “The Hidden Third” which is yet to be released.

In the spring of 2010 ARAL spent several months in northeast Peru in the jungles of  The Amazon. It was during this time that ARAL’s perspective of himself, his music, and his world changed dramatically. They gave him a name special to them and their culture, a name powerful and significant with meaning, The Healers and James took part in a naming ceremony, and he was given the name Roneen Brooso which in Shipibo means Anacanda.

Green Leaf Apparel (Andrew MacCready) is a local entrepreneur from Manteca that was created in the summer of 2009 and will be showcasing their fall line throughout the night. Their line was created with guys in mind. That throughout history, a single leaf has been know to symbolize happiness, which is why the very simple Green Leaf Logo is much more then just a branding technique for clothing, Green Leaf encompasses a love for the natural world, art, music, life, To possess the leaf logo is to showcase your love for life and the pursuit of happiness. They hand print all of their apparel to create unique custom tees from their facility in Central California,. They not only print for their own line but also create logos and screen print for many other artist and companies. Tonight they will be introducing their line of appeal that will include clothing like Polo shirts, zip up sweat shirts along with many styles Green Leaf Apparel.

Another well known Manteca group joining the event is Braata.

Braata is a female fronted reggae/rock band that was formed in 2008. They released their 1st CD title “lady” and are going to release their new album titled “Premonition” within the next few months. Braata has kept a consistent show schedule and has won several competitions though out California including Modesto’s MAMA award.  Braata mixes Rock, Ska, Reggae with a little bit of funk into their high energy shows.  Braata band members also pride themselves in donating thier time to many different fundraising events. They perform from very small event to larger events like Reggae in the Hills and Modesto Xfest main stage.  They are very excited about this event because it is created by local artists  with many different types of art, like: live painting, Fashion Show, Live Tattoo artist and of coarse the different styles of music.  It is great to be involved in this type of event.

Some of the other artist performing are Colbalt 45, Abbey James & Remedy, Keep it lit,  Prep,  A’ la Lune and  DJ Liquid.  Other art includes live painting by Roka Akore & Rudykilla of cure photography , Live Tattoo by  Wayne Allen’s Red Dragon Tattoo,  Fashion modeled by shai’la and  Aqua Dreams Entertainment.  Tickets are $12 at the door.  For more information  you can call 209-923-2254.
