Manteca is about to get another car wash complete with a bakery and a coffee roasting house.

Artemis Vourakis and her brother Hercules are preparing to reopen the old Indy Car Wash at Yosemite and Cottage avenues. It will open by March under the name Clear Drop Car Wash complete with new state-of-the-art equipment as well and a new architectural treatment.

Tony & Mrs. K’s Bakery and Roasted Coffee will open sooner, either in late December or January. The name honors the siblings’ parents.

“It won’t be a big bakery but we’ll make everything from scratch using local fruit,” Vourakis said. “(It will include) some Greek bakery items.”

She plans on using Jesus Mountain Coffee beans. The Manteca-based concern that includes Mike Atherton among its principals has its own premium coffee bean plantations in El Salvador and Hawaii.

It is the latest in a string of new businesses that have either opened, are preparing to open or have announced plans to do so in East Manteca.

• America’s Tire Co. has just opened in a new building in front of Home Depot on Commerce Avenue.

• A Sears appliance store is preparing to open in a vacant storefront just to the south of PetSmart on Spreckels Avenue.

• Black Bear Diner has opened at East Yosemite and Button avenues. It replaces Perko’s that plans on opening a new restaurant in 2013 at Union and Lathrop roads in North Manteca.

• McDonald’s is building a new restaurant at Commerce Avenue and east Yosemite Avenue.

• The state-of-the-art Central Valley Cancer Center is about a month or so away from opening on Norman Avenue west of Spreckels Avenue.

• CarQuest Auto Parts opened this past week in the former Big O Tire building next to Lincoln School on East Yosemite Avenue.
