The Manteca Buffaloes freshman football team improved to 2-0 with a one-sided victory over the visiting Los Banos Tigers on Thursday.

Manteca jumped out on the Tigers 20-0 after one quarter of play and cruised the rest of the way on offense and never letting up on the defensive end.

“This was a very decisive win in all phases of the football game,” Manteca head coach John Shaefer said.

Marcus Rivas was the big factor in the win, scoring four touchdowns and rushing for 230 yards on 26 carries. Nate Krebs, Jason Defrenchi and Tyler Graves all scored touchdown for Manteca in the win.

Bobby Bratton made several impact plays for the Buffaloes, including blocking a punt and recovering a fumble. Sam Rohovit also blocked a punt and made a decent return to set up Manteca’s sixth and final touchdown.

Manteca opened the contest with Rivas breaking for a 75-yard score on the first offensive play from scrimmage.

The Buffaloes will try and close on the non league schedule undefeated with a win over the visiting Stagg High Delta Kings.
