STOCKTON — The award-winning St. Mary’s High School Theatre Department will present the acclaimed 1990 Tony Award-winner for Best Play, The Grapes of Wrath, Oct. 6-14 at Stockton Civic Theatre.

Adapted by Frank Galati from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by John Steinbeck, this epic production tells the classic story of the Joad family’s Depression-era travels from Oklahoma’s dust bowl to California, where they hope to find work and a bright new future.

“This is a very unique theatrical experience,” said director Kevin Costello, adding “the students will provide live music and singing throughout the play, plus we will use a real Depression-era truck onstage, as well as water effects to create rain and a flood. We are truly excited for the community to see this!”  The Grapes of Wrath performances are on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday Oct. 7, at 2  p.m.; Friday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday Oct. 14, at 2:00 p.m.
