Cowboys crush Cougars to remain undefeated

The Manteca Cowboys improved to 4-0 following last Saturday’s 60-6 rout of the Mission Valley Cougars.

The Cowboys scored on every possession while playing mistake-free on defense in NorCal All-American Football League action.

They had plenty of contributors, including Carlos Maltez, who had touchdowns of 23 and 13 yards to go along with his 54 rushing yards.

Pawl Johnson had 43 yards and scoring runs of 5 and 33 yards. Val Gomez chipped in with a 25-yard TD. Miguel Lopez had 54 yards from the ground.

Quarterback Angel Sena connected with David Pagan on a 3-yard TD pass. He also had 33 yards passing and 40 yards rushing.

On defense, Manteca came up with five turnovers. Gomez had six tackles and a fumble recovery and Frankie Porter came through with an interception for a TD.

Lee Lopez and Jake Larkin also picked off passes.

In addition, Carlos Maltez had five stops, Sena managed three tackles and a sack, and Lopez and Johnson both registered three tackles each.

The Cowboys will play host to the West Coast Junior 49ers at East Union High’s Dino Cunial Field this weekend.

Alex Scoz scored twice in the Manteca Cowboys’ win.

Along the way, he racked up 157 yards rushing on nine carries. Aaron Rayevich also had a TD while gaining 76 yards on six carries.

On defense, Isaac Scozle led the way with five tackles with Ryan Faias registering four stops.
