East Union’s girls tennis team squeaked out a 5-4 victory over visiting Kimball on Tuesday. The win is the Lancers’ first through four Valley Oak League matches for the Lancers.

“The girls are excited,” said first-year coach Rick Mitchell. “There were some good matches; Kimball was on their game, too. Things are starting to come together for us, so hopefully this leads to us having a little more success.”

The difference was the No. 6 singles match won by Madeline Ysalva, who prevailed in a third-set tiebreaker.

Rebekah Jacobson triumphed 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles contest, and Nikki Reichmuth won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5.
