Sierra High’s girls tennis team had a successful two-day run in the round-robin Freedom Invitational in Oakley.
The Timberwolves wrapped up play on Saturday with a 4-1 record, losing only a tough 4-3 match to Liberty of Brentwood. Their wins were against Freedom (6-1), Heritage (5-2), Deer Valley (7-0) and Las Lomas (4-3).
The tournament was played under a four-singles, three-doubles format. Sierra was dominant in singles, as No. 1 Vannida Nguyen won all four of her contests, No. 2 Naomi Nunis was perfect in five and Anna Cardenas finished 3-0.
Maddie Banks won three out of four, Annie Banks went 2-1 and Rosie Reynolds 1-1. Annie Banks and Reynolds also played in doubles matches.
Brenda Padilla and Emma Hunter teamed up to go 3-2, and Barbara Baxter and Kelsey Wells split their four contests. Simran Thind had multiple partners and went 2-2. Crystal Hernandez and Nidia Contreras also competed for the Timberwolves.
Sierra returns to Valley Oak League action today at Kimball.

The Timberwolves fell to 4-5 in the Valley Oak League with Monday’s tough loss.
Kimball had the top two scorers at Manteca Park Golf Course, as Lydia Nolan and Taylor Honnol carded a 47 and 48, respectively. Scoring for Sierra were Lexus Barnes (53), Melanie Kiesel (55), Vanessa Rodriguez (56), McKenna Doyle (58) and Kaitlea Maestas (67).
