Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
When I first read the letter from James Simoni (C’mon, that will never happen in America) Wednesday, July 15, I was more than sure he did not originate it. A simple internet search proved me right. I found his letter, word for word, written by a right wing blogger, it seems. It is easy to figure out the contents of the letter is just more of the same gibberish we are so used to reading from the ‘ Local Fringe’. The letter points to 11 unsupported but mostly just made up claims and reasons why the 2010 election is “soooo” important, as if the rest of them weren’t?

Well, here are 11 reasons why the last two elections were “soooo” important, and I didn’t copy them from the internet. Eleven reasons are just the tip of the ice berg, I can go on for days as I am sure you can.

1. What if I had told the Fringe back in 2001 that the President they had just elected into office would become the lowest rated President EVER and would soon become the laughing stock of late-night television, both in the U.S. and the rest of the world?

Would the Fringe have said “C’mon, that would never happen in the 4th Dimension?”

2. What if I had told the Fringe that same President would drag us into a war of choice using misinformation or worse?

Would the Fringe have said “C’mon, that would never happen in the 4th Dimension?”

3. What if I had told the Fringe that the Vice President would be involved with several less-than-honorable circumstances?

Would the Fringe have said “C’mon, that would never happen in the 4th Dimension?”

4. What if I had told the Fringe that following eight years of a badly failed Republican Administration, the American people would overwhelmingly elect the first Black American President?

Would the Fringe have said “C’mon, that would never happen in the 4th Dimension?”

5. What if I had told the Fringe that this new President would enjoy the confidence and support of the American public as well as the rest of the free world?

Would the Fringe have said “C’mon, that would never happen in the 4th Dimension?”

6. What if I had told the Fringe that this new President would select the first Latina to the Supreme Court?

Would the Fringe have said “C’mon, that would never happen in the 4th Dimension?”

7. What if I had told the Fringe that the senior Republican Congressman from a heavily Republican district, Richard Pombo, would be found to be less-than-honest and would be replaced by a newcomer and a Democrat, Jerry McNerney?

Would the Fringe have said “C’mon, that would never happen in the 4th Dimension?

8. What if I had told the Fringe that in just two elections, Republicans would lose control of the House, the Senate and the White House?

Would the Fringe have said “C’mon, that would never happen in the 4th Dimension?”

9. What if I had told the Fringe that the hopes of the GOP, Sarah Palin, would be one of the main reasons for losing the White House and later would ‘cut and run’ from her governorship of Alaska with almost half of her term remaining?

Would the Fringe have said “C’mon, that would never happen in the 4th Dimension?”

10. What if I had told the Fringe that Republican after Republican would be involved with scandal after scandal, further deteriorating a badly battered Party?

Would the Fringe have said “C’mon, that would never happen in the 4th Dimension?”

11. What if I had told the Fringe that the face of the Republican Party would be people like Rush Limbaugh, Richard Steele, Dick Cheney, Sarah Palin and Joe the Plummer?

Would the Fringe have said “C’mon, that would never happen in the 4th Dimension?”

Yes, they would, and they would be absolutely correct, because as everyone in our own Dimension knows only too well, the 4th Dimension does not harbor and semblance of logic or reality, that everything within the 4th Dimension is the complete opposite of reality. Where up is down and — well you know the drill. Everyone also understands that no matter how many times those living in the 4th. Dimension, regurgitate that same old tired rhetoric, it still has the same old sour grapes smell.
