Escalon beats Knights behind Homen’s 36

Even with a solid round, Ripon Christian was unable to keep pace with the visiting Escalon Cougars, falling to the Cougars 156-176 Thursday in Valley Foothill League play at Jack Tone Golf Course.

Jenny Wickham led the Knights (5-4) without her best game, shooting an 8-over-par 39 to pace RC. Vanessa Vallo followed Wickham with a 41 and Kaitlyn Groshong a few strokes back with a 46.

Laurne Hogan shot a 50 for the Knights and both Robyn Reyes and Stacie Daretta rounded out the Ripon Christian scorecard with 52s.

Escalon (8-1) got a medalist-honors earning round from Nickey Homen who shot a 36.


Valley Oak League

East Union 237, Sonora 257

The Lancers took care of business on the road, taking down Sonora by 20 strokes at Phoenix Lake Golf course Thursday.

East Union (9-0) was led by Kimmy Lamar’s 42 and Jordan Vinson’s 46. Brittany Ugalino turned in a 48 on the par-35 front nine. Angelique Cardoza and Brooke Riley closed out the Lancers scorecard with rounds of 51 and 50, respectively.


Weston Ranch 325, Lathrop DQ

The Cougars were able to put together their best team score of the season, shooting a 325 against an incomplete Lathrop Spartan club.

Jonelle Mungal led the Cougars with a 48, while teammate Lydia McDonald turned in a 55.
