The defense shined for Ripon Chiefs in their shutout performance last Saturday over Brentwood Patriots in DYSA NorCal football Rookies action.

Ripon won at Stouffer Field, 20-0.

Cade McCusker, Aaron Wood, Dale Fisher, Caleb Delgado, and Gunnar Schneringer helped set the tempo early on.

The Chiefs scored on their first offensive series. Derric Roy, who had a 20-yard run in the drive, scored from 15 yards out.

Bertsch and Fisher then came up with some big defensive plays, forcing the Patriots to punt. From there, Wood recovered the blocked punt at the Brentwood 20.

The Chiefs added to their tally in the second quarter. Quarterback Dorian Dougherty had a pair of runs including one for a touchdown. Nathan Valdez added the PAT kick.

Justin Swilley had a sack and Beau Dionio had a tackle as Ripon continued to play stellar defense.

Ripon scored again on Roy’s 60-yard run. He had another one at the same distance in the second half, with Valdez adding the PAT kick.

Tommy Campbell and Trendon Arriola helped preserve the shutout with their fourth-quarter stops.
