JV Chargers hand Rebels their second defeat

In Delta Youth Football League play, the junior varsity squad of the Manteca Chargers defeated the Delta Rebels last Saturday, 22-6.

The cross-town rival Chargers also handed the Rebels with their second loss of the year.

Delta’s only score came on a quarterback keeper by Delvon Bradford that came late in the game.

The Rebels will hit the road this weekend to face the Dublin Fighting Irish.

Rebels’ quarterback Francisco Murillo rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown. He also completed a 10-yard pass to running back Keyshawn Robinson, who tallied 51 yards on the ground.

Eric Soward, Louis Rivera, and Salathiel Ellis for Delta earned recognition for their defensive efforts.

Manteca Cowboys 45, Bees 0

The Cowboys rebounded from last week’s loss in the NorCal All-American Youth Football League action.

Against the Keyes Bees, they racked up 375 rushing yards on 26 attempts.

Leading the way was Alex Scoz, who had 180 yards on six carries with four touchdowns. Bryant Davis picked up 105 yards on five carries and a TD. Ryan Faias tallied 55 yards on nine carries, scoring an extra point.

But it was Cruz Richer’s 53-yard touchdown pass to Angel Ramirez that accounted for the big play.

In addition, Aaron Rayevich scored a TD, picking up 41 yards on two carries.

Defensively, Noel Ruezga had seven tackles and forced a fumble. Robbie Larkins and Ryan Torres also chipped in with four tackles each.
