Cardoza shines as Lancers remain undefeated

ast Union’s Angelique Cardoza had it working on every facet Tuesday, recording medalist-honors in EU’s VOL victory over Weston Ranch Tuesday.

East Union took to its match against the Weston Ranch Cougars with a business-as-usual mentality, taking care of the Cougars and continuing their perfect run through the Valley Oak League with a 224-348 win Tuesday.

Angelique Cardoza was on her game for the majority of the nine-hole par-37 Manteca Golf Course, fumbling an even more impressive round with a three-putt on the final hole of a 41. Cardoza’s medalist-honors earning round with a beautiful chip in from off the green and a 15-foot putt for birdie.

Jordan Vinson followed Cardoza’s round with a 43 and freshman Brooke Riley was one stroke back with a 44. Brianna Perkins (47) and Brittany Ugalino rounded out the Lancers (11-0) scorecard with a 49.

Weston Ranch was led by Jonelle Mungcal’s round of 57.

East Union will be back on the course at 3 p.m. when they host the Manteca Buffaloes.

 

Valley Foothill League

Bret Harte 161, Ripon 186

The Indians put together a solid round, yet Ripon was still some 25-strokes short of Bret Harte in Valley Foothill League golf Tuesday.

The Indians (3-6) were led by Sienna Stark’s round of 41 on the front nine of Jack Tone Golf Course. Following Stark’s round was Erin Weaver. Weaver continued a recent trend, shooting a 45, a stroke ahead of Hailey Rae Rose’s 46.

“Erin is really stepping it up,” Ripon head coach Eric Dambrosio said. “She was shooting in the 50s and has worked hard and is shooting in the 40s.

“She will be a factor in our program next year.”

Brittany Amezcua rounded out the Ripon scorecard with a 54.

 

Ripon Christian 222, Calaveras 260

The Knights were able to post a 38-stroke victory over Calaveras Tuesday at La Contenta Golf Course.

Jenny Wickham led the way for Ripon Christian (6-4) with a medalist-honors earning round of 43. Both Kaitlyn Groshong and Lauren Hogan followed Wickham with a 60. Robyn Reyes (61) and Vanessa Vallo (63) rounded out the Knights’ scorecard.
