East Union was able to finish with five players in the 40s, remain undefeated in Valley Oak League play and beat Kimball 221-280 at Manteca Golf Course.

With Brooke Riley leading the way with a 3-over-par 40 and Angelique Cardoza following her by two strokes with a 42, East Union finished well in front of visiting Kimball but not anywhere near where the Lancers will need to be for the postseason.

“It was OK, I feel we’ve gotten a little complacent,” East Union co-head coach Dennis Wells said of the round. “I was hoping for something in the 210-212 range.

“I was not unhappy with it, but not happy with it either.”

Kimmy Lamar turned in a 46 for the Lancers, while Brittany Ugalino rounded out the scorecard with a 47. Brianna Perkins was the Lancers’ throw-out score with a 52.

Sonora 266, Weston Ranch 330

The Cougars had a tough time on the Sonora High home course, dropping their VOL match with the Wildcats 266-330 Thursday.

Jonelle Mungcal led the Cougars with a 60 and Lydia McDonald followed her with a 61.

“We’ve been struggling and I don’t know why,” Weston Ranch head coach Miguel Torrente said. “I hope we can turn it around.”

Valley Foothill League

Riverbank 170, Ripon 182

The Indians battled valiantly, but fell to host Riverbank 170-182 Thursday at Escalon Golf Course.

Sienna Stark turned in another impressive round, earning medalist-honors with a 38. Teammate Hailey Rae Rose followed Stark with a 46, while both Maddie Hause and Erin Weaver finished nine holes in 49 strokes.

“The greens were really fast out there,” Ripon head coach Eric Dambrosio said. “They had just cut them and air-raided them and they were a lot faster than we expected.”
