Two men were arrested shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday allegedly loading stolen business materials onto a trailer being towed by a truck reported stolen earlier in Manteca.

Sheriff’s deputies had responded to the 30900 block of South Tracy Boulevard on a report of a burglary in progress.  When officers arrived on the scene they found the men allegedly attempting to load a flatbed trailer with stolen building materials from a construction business at that location.

Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Les Garcia said the stolen material had a value of approximately $3,600.  He further noted that Steven Raridon, 32, and Melvin Syester, 39,   had conspired to steal scrap metal from the construction company at that site prior to trespassing onto the property.

Both men were booked into San Joaquin County Jail and charged with felony possession of a stolen vehicle, felony grand theft, felony possession of stolen property and felony conspiracy and misdemeanor trespassing.

Both men are being held in lieu of $233,000 bail with a court date of Oct. 9 in the Manteca Branch of the San Joaquin County Superior Court.
