Ripon Christian’s volleyball team is tuning up for the competitive Presentation Tournament in San Jose this week starting with Monday’s 25-7, 25-2, 25-20 drubbing of visiting Denair.

The Knights (8-0, 12-3 overall) continue Southern League play with Thursday’s road match at Gustine before heading to San Jose Saturday morning.

On Monday they overwhelmed Denair with a balanced attack, as Cassidy De Rousse, Stephanie Van de Pol and Kristy Van Diver each put away five kills. Andie Shelton led the offense with 22 assists, and Kaylie Colyn served five aces.

Teagan Manus and Brittany Petlansky paced the defense with four blocks and four digs, respectively.

In Stockton, the ill-stricken Cougars (3-6, 4-9) struggled to keep up with the VOL’s third-place club.

“We were off a little bit tonight; a lot of kids are battling sicknesses,” Weston Ranch coach Chris Bauer said. “But it’s really no excuse, we just didn’t come ready to play and Kimball played consistently well. We made too many errors during crucial times.”

Candisse Griffin clubbed 10 kills and three aces for Weston Ranch. Alex Marapao added 17 digs, Aoloni Etu handed out 20 assists and Melanie Amen had three aces.

In Sonora, Megan De Groot turned in five assists while Morgan Willis contributed six digs in Sierra’s two-game (14-25, 13-25) defeat.

The Timberwolves swept 25-18, 25-22 behind solid all-around contributions from Cecilia Salcedo (3 aces, 3 kills, 8 assists) and Carolina Ortega (4 solo blocks, 3 aces, 4 kills). Natalie Garcia was lauded for her efforts in the back row.
