Sierra takes Oakdale to four games

Sierra High was able to pull out one during its trip to Oakdale, but that would be it in  18-25, 10-25, 26-24, 12-25 loss Wednesday in Valley Oak League play.

Sierra (2-7) got quality play from Gianna Lenoci who led the club with the 17 digs. Teammate Allison Walljasper added seven blocks and three kills, while Faby Lopez chipped in with four kills, seven assists and a block.

Oakdale (9-0) was led by Kaitlin Van Ryn with 10 digs, six aces and 11 kills.

The Timberwolves will be back on the court in VOL play against Lathrop Monday.

East Union 3, Lathrop 2

The Lancers had enough to leave Lathrop searching for the victory, handing the Spartans a 22-25, 25-13, 11-25, 25-18 and 15-10 Wednesday.

East Union got off to a sluggish start, but found its groove in the fourth game behind an impressive service run for Carolina Gutierrez. Gutierrez finished with 19 assists, 23 service points and two aces. She made her mark in the fourth game win, going on a run when the Lancers had 18 and took them one point from victory.

Alexis Steele, Monica King and Lauren Terry all provided six kills for East Union, while King also added five aces.

Lathrop got 10 kills and six aces from Jocelyn Arnada and five kills and seven digs from Loreal Taylor.
