Sierra sophomores defeat Kimball; Manteca High frosh remain perfect

In a game marred by penalties and mistakes, the Sierra High Timberwolves were able to hang on for a 21-6 Valley Oak League football win Friday in sophomore league action against Kimball.

Sierra got touchdown runs from Devin Nunez and John Cibelli-Sanford, while Hunter Johnson hauled in a Jared Silviera 12-yard touchdown strike.

The Timberwolves’ defense was led by the linebacker play of Trey McCrey and Cebelli-Sanford.

Sierra will try and extend its winning streak Friday when they play host to the Sonora Wildcats at 5:30 p.m.



Freshman

Manteca 27, Sonora 0

The Manteca Buffaloes did not have any trouble sending the Sonora Wildcats home with a Valley Oak League loss Thursday in a 27-0 via a freshman football win.

The Buffaloes (4-0, 7-0 overall) got another top-shelf effort from running back Marcus Rivas, who led the club with three touchdowns running, while teammate Dakari Charles made good on the Buffaloes other scoring drive.

“This was a solid team victory,” Manteca head coach Jon Shaefer said. “We were clicking on all cylinders tonight.”

The Buffaloes built a 21-0 halftime lead to put the game away in a hurry.

Manteca will try and remain perfect on the season when they host the Lathrop Spartans at 5 p.m. Thursday.
