Manteca Police officers  Sgt. Mike Sexon and patrolman John Moody arrested a suspected strong arm robbery suspect in an alley north of Yosemite Avenue Friday morning between Maple and Sycamore Avenues.

Robert Escanuelas, Jr, 30, was charged with a felony for demanding money from the desk clerk at the Best Western Hotel shortly before 4 a.m. in the 1400 block of East Yosemite Avenue.  Following his arrest he was subjected to a roadside lineup for identity confirmation by a witness.

Detectives had put information out to patrol units on the suspect and the day shift officers located the man south of the Manteca Post Office.  Officers said he was arrested in an area near his home Friday morning.

He was booked into San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp on a felony robbery charge, police said.  The exact amount of money taken in the robbery was unavailable at press time.
