Lathrop shooting leaves man in critical condition

LATHROP — An 18-year old man sustained life threatening injuries in a shooting early Saturday morning  outside the Two Guys Store in the 100 block of East Harlan Road.

Lathrop Police Services deputies responded to a 1:25 a.m. report of a shooting and found the 18-year-old sitting in a vehicle parked on the south side of the business next to the air station. The victim was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition.

Witnesses describe the suspect as a Hispanic or Black male 5-foot-9, thin build wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. He was last seen running away from the victim’s car after several gun shots were heard. The suspect ran southeast behind the store onto Harlan Road.

The motive for the shooting is still under investigation. The possibility of the shooting being gang related has not been ruled out.
