Four gang members allegedly assaulted a Mantecan at Southside Park at about 7 p.m. Monday night chasing him onto Willow Avenue before officers arrived on the scene, according to Manteca Police public information officer Jason Hensley.

The assault victim reportedly had some of his valuables taken by the trio during the attack.  Hensley said Matthew Torres, 21, was taken into custody by officers a short distance from the scene, and booked into county jail for felony street terrorism, and robbery with a gang enhancement.

Three other suspects were identified by officers as Steven Anthony Cervantes, Casey Daniel Burks and Wesley Trent Miller.  Street Crimes Unit detectives located Miller, 23, Tuesday night and took him into custody.  He was later booked into San Joaquin County Jail for street terrorism and robbery with a gang enhancement.

On Wednesday Manteca’s Gang Suppression Unit along with the Street Crimes Unit and the investigations division served a search warrant in the 1700 block of Savory Street.  During the search detectives located a loaded hand gun and some 220 grams of marijuana allegedly belonging to Matthew Torres who was already in jail – additional charges were placed against him.

Later on Wednesday the Gang Suppression Unit located Casey Burks in the area of Southside Park where he was taken into custody without incident and also charged with street terrorism robbery with a gang enhancement.

On Thursday the Street Crimes Unit detectives conducted a probation search in the 1100 block of Lorene Avenue.  They were searching for suspect Steven Cervantes, 22, in connection with the assault investigation.  Cervantes was located and taken into custody without incident.  A further search of the residence yielded nearly 31 grams of crystal methamphetamine, police said.
