STOCKTON - The  Stockton Civic Theatre has cast its first show of 2013, the madcap, screwball comedy “Lend Me A Tenor,” opening Jan. 9.

“Lend Me A Tenor” is set in September 1934.  This night is the biggest in the history of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company.  World famous tenor Tito Morelli, played by Richard Garvin, is to perform Otello, his greatest role, at the gala season opener.  Saunders, the harried General Manager, played by Michael Kiley, hopes this will put Cleveland on the cultural map.  The star arrives late and, through a hilarious series of mishaps, is given a double dose of tranquilizers and passes out.  Madness ensues.  Other characters include Saunders’ assistant, Max, played by Joseph Smith; Maggie, Saunders’ daughter, and Max’s girlfriend, played by Sarah Spenker; Maria, Tito’s long-suffering wife, played by Andie Daste, Frank the Bellhop, played by David Nelson; Diana, the opera’s ingénue soprano, played by Jennifer Hastings; and Julia, the chairwoman of the opera house, played by Elaine Saculla.
