North Pole is coming to Lathrop

LATHROP - Lathrop has an array of upcoming holiday events on Saturday, Dec., 8.

• North Pole Experience: Breakfast and pictures with Santa, 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the Lathrop Senior Center. Tickets now on sale. Presale breakfast and pictures will be given priority. Several breakfast options are available. Photos with Santa are $5.

• Holiday Parade: 11 a.m. on Fifth Street in Lathrop. Theme of the 2012 parade is “Holidays Around the World.” The parade entry fee is $20. For a parade entry application, please visit the city’s website at or call Maureen Iorio at 941-7383.

• Holiday Boutique: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lathrop Senior Center. Come buy goodies, lunch and Christmas gifts following the parade. Limited outdoor vendor space is available. If you are interested in vendor space, please call the Lathrop Senior Center at 941-7380.

• Tree Lighting Ceremony: 6:30 p.m. at Manuel Valverde Park Amphitheatre (outside this year!) Lathrop Elementary School and the Lathrop Area Music Program Choirs will perform holiday music, refreshments will be served and Santa will visit the children!

Almond Blossom holiday boutique

Lunch will be available at the Almond Blossom Holiday Boutique this Saturday from 9 until 3 p.m. 

Baked goods are also on tap at the event to be held at the Almond Blossom Mobile Home Park at 1901 East Yosemite – just east of Highway 99 in Manteca.

The sale items can be found in the park’s clubhouse near the entrance to the grounds.

SONdance presents Christmas ballet

The 8th annual ballet production of “A Christmas to Remember” will be presented by SONdance Dance School of Manteca.

The two performances will be held at the Performing Arts Center at Ripon Christian School on Dec. 7-8 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available for $8 in advance, or $10 at the door.

Holiday Tea benefits women, kids in Congo

The Women’s Holiday Tea benefit takes place Saturday, Nov. 10, at 9 a.m. at the Place of Refuge, 486 Button Ave.

Doors open at 8 a.m. for the event that also includes testaments, music and dance performances.

Tickets are $35 apiece and are available at the church office by calling 239-1371.

Proceeds will benefit local charities that assist women and children as well as a center in Goma in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. A team of 10 women from the church just returned from the Congo where they worked at the center.
