Republicans keep finding excuses for losing

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,

It’s been over a week since the presidential election. So you would think Republicans, even the Far Right Republicans would have accepted the outcome and moved on, right? Wrong! Ever since day one after the election we have heard from the GOP, every reason under the sun, except the real reasons, as to why Romney lost so badly. Of course the GOP leaders on the Right, insist it was close, 323 to 206 doesn’t sound close to me. Remember what Limbaugh said? “The race won’t even be close, Romney will get over 300 electoral votes, not even close!” But now that it is Obama who got “Over 300 electoral votes” he has now pronounced it as “Close”.

The reasons the GOP has listed for the loss range from the, expected, Liberal Media bias to the timely Hurricane Sandy, apparently caused by the Democrats so that Obama could act “Presidential” while Romney held fake Hurricane Relief rallies. We are still hearing excuses today. Most recently, Romney himself blamed it on “gifts” Obama gave to voter groups such as Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Women and Young People, all of which voted in higher numbers for Obama. I was in the Hispanic group, wonder where MY gift went?

Grover Norquist blamed it on the candidates themselves, calling Romney a “Poopy-Head” and Ryan as someone who couldn’t even carry his own hometown, much less his home state. Romney, himself, couldn’t carry any of the states he owns homes in either.

Some Right Wingers both nationally and locally have had a very hard time dealing with the loss, some lashing back if only in their mind.

Even our own Republican spokesperson has lashed out at his own party. In a recent article on Frank Aquila in this paper, Mr. Aquila declared “The Democrats are quickly killing this country and the Republicans are slowly killing it”. Apparently he is turning to the Tea Party, I assume he will be changing his title to a more Tea Party flavor.

The GOP has to do some soul searching, especially about the Hispanic vote which went to Obama by 71%. The Hispanic vote increases by over 50,000 every month and that number will only increase exponentially every year, it will never decrease. It is one main reason California is Blue and will likely stay that way. Republican registration shrinks every year while Democratic registration only grows.

The Hispanic community now leans more to the Left than ever before. In this election it has overwhelmingly denied the GOP its vote.
