Phone bank volunteers seeking to raise $100K for Boys & Girls

Some 240 volunteers are expected to call community members tonight and Tuesday in a bid to raise $100,000 for the Manteca/Lathrop Boys & Girls Club.

They are part of the 33rd annual Boys & Girls Telethon that also includes entertainment as well as silent and live auctions. The telethon can be viewed tonight from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 5 to 10 p.m. on Comcast Channel 97 or by dropping by the clubhouse at 545 W. Alameda St.

Manteca Fire Chief Kirk Waters, alumnus of the San Mateo Boys Club who is the current president of the Manteca/Lathrop Boys & Girls Club, is serving as phone bank coordinator.

Volunteer groups manning the phones tonight include St, Paul’s Methodist Church, Doctors Hospital of Manteca, Manteca Police Seniors Helping Area Residents and Police, Starbucks, Lathrop Chamber of Commerce, Wells Fargo Bank, Delta National Bank, American Legion, Manteca Noon Rotary, Sunrise Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge, and A Place of Refuge.

Helping on the phones Tuesday are Wells Fargo Bank, Calvary Community Church, San Joaquin County Corrections, Love INC, Del Webb at Woodbridge Men’s Club, Manteca Interact, Building Industry of the Delta, BJ’s Brew Pub, the American Punjabi Association, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Christian Worship Center, Manteca Youth Focus, and the Boys & Girl Club board of directors.
