Alfred and Dale Gruber celebrated 70 years of marriage on August 7, 2009. Alfred Gruber and the former Dale Thomas were married on August, 7, 1939 in Modesto. They have resided in Manteca for six years, previously in Stockton for over 40 years.

They have two daughters, Jeanette Allen and her husband Max of Modesto and Maxine Knight and her husband Larry of Manteca. They have 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Al and Dale feel they have been blessed with a large and loving family. For over 70 years they have been side by side, with the exception of brief hospital stays — and every day begins with, “I love you.”

Alfred was self-employed with Formost Dairy’s Distributorship. He is now retired. Dale is retired from food service at Delta College in Stockton.
