Matthew Scott Parker passed away in his Manteca home on Saturday, Aug. 8, at the age of 34.

Matt was born in Sacramento but lived most of his life in the Stockton/Manteca area, graduating from Manteca High School in 1993.  He started working in construction and at the time of his passing was a state licensed general contractor, electrician, and building inspector.  He worked most recently as an electrician at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories.

Matt was an adventurous soul and enjoyed camping as well as a myriad of extreme sports including snowboarding, long boarding, wakeboarding, sky-diving, and kite-boarding.  Matt’s other passion was repairing things be it a friend’s computer, a neighbor’s sprinkler system, or a loved-one’s home.  He wouldn’t take no for an answer when he knew he could help you and he insisted that any job be done right.  Matt’s love for his fellow man was apparent in his generosity, giving lavishly of his means, his time, and his expertise.

Matt is the son of John Parker and Brenda Bennion Parker of Manteca.  His surviving family includes sisters Wendy Parker of Manteca and Linsey Bair of Idaho Falls, ID and brothers Jack (Farmington, CA), David (Manteca), Tim (Rancho Cucamonga, CA), Ryan (Fort Collins, CO), and Jed (Santa Clara, CA).  He has six nephews and one niece.  He is also survived by a considerable number of friends and associates who he loved and served.

A religious memorial will be held in Matt’s honor on Thursday, Aug. 13, at 7 p.m. at the LDS church on Union Road and Northgate Drive in Manteca.  Friends and associates of Matt’s are encouraged to attend.  There will be no visitation.  Internment will be arranged by Eaton Family Funeral Service at Turlock Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Matt’s honor to Habitat for Humanity or Children’s Organ Transplant Association.
