MODESTO — Award-winning Alligator Records artists Rick Estrin and Joe Louis Walker will perform on Thursday, Jan. 10, at The State Theatre in Modesto.

The concert starts at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $28 to $45. More information is available by going to www.thestate.org .

Harpist/vocalist/songwriter Estrin and guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Walker will appear as part of “Mark Hummel’s Blues Harmonica Blowout.” Also featured in the band are Kim Wilson, Lazy Lester, Little Charlie Baty and Ron Thompson.

Rick Estrin & The Nightcats’ latest Alligator Records CD is “One Wrong Turn”. Living Blues says the album contains “Infectious, captivating, powerful blues…One Wrong Turn is a great party album buoyed by Rick Estrin’s charismatic personality, intense Chicago-style harp playing, witty songs and the band’s tough-as-nails grooves.” Since the 2009 release of their celebrated Alligator Records debut, “Twisted”, the band has toured non-stop, honing their creative synergy to a razor’s edge. Night after night, the band blazes their own innovative musical path while still remaining true to the blues.

Joe Louis Walker’s Alligator Records debut is “Hellfire”. The Wall Street Journal celebrates Hellfire’s “appealing immediacy” and says, “Walker’s raspy, powerhouse voice is out front while his stinging guitar cuts through the uncluttered arrangements.” Walker has been releasing groundbreaking music since 1986 and has toured - and continues to tour -- worldwide. He has won four Blues Music Awards (BMA) and has been nominated for 44 more.
