WESTMINSTER  (AP) — The Southern California home to a huge Little Saigon community has renewed its opposition to visits from communist Vietnam officials.

The resolution unanimously approved Wednesday night by the Westminster City Council says the officials from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam are not welcome.

The resolution, which was first adopted in 2004, expired in 2009.

The re-established resolution came on the same night the city's first elected Vietnamese-American Mayor Tri Ta was sworn in.

The revived resolution doesn't have a sunset clause.

The resolution says visits by officials of communist Vietnam provoke the city's large Vietnamese-American population and create a financial burden on the Police Department responsible for monitoring protests.
